2017 Society for Literature, Science, and the Arts (SLSA) Conference

The Arizona State University Department of English will host the 31st annual conference of the Society for Literature, Science, and the Arts (SLSA)

The SLSA 2017 theme is "Out of Time," and papers/panels topics on the theme will include: nonhuman temporalities, species extinction, life after humans, slow time, the long now, time and computing, digital temporalities, bio-political time, time and capital, and much more.

Keynote addresses--which are free and open to the public--are as follows (talk titles tentative):

  • Sat, Nov 11, 5:45-7:15, MU Arizona Room. McKenzie Wark, Theory for the Anthropocene

The conference is sponsored by ASU's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences; Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts; New College of Interdisciplinary Studies; Department of English; School of Art; School of Arts, Media, and Engineering; School for the Future of Innovation in Society; School of International Letters and Cultures; Center for Science and the Imagination; Institute for Humanities Research; Laboratory for Critical Technics; Museum of Walking; and Synthesis Center.
