Department of English Graduate Reception and Awards Ceremony

The ASU Department of English celebrates its 2021-2022 graduates and award-winners on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 4:30 p.m. in a hybrid event. 

The program portion of the event begins at 4:30 p.m. in Armstrong Hall room 101, with an option to attend virtually via Zoom. An in-person reception with light refreshments will follow, just across the courtyard in the lobby of Ross-Blakley Hall.

Grad and undergrad students completing any degree in the Department of English during spring 2022 will be honored, as will those who have garnered scholarships, awards, and fellowships during the past school year. We will also recognize our donors and faculty who have helped make it all happen!

Our featured speaker is Alberto Ríos, University Professor of Letters, Regents Professor of English, and director of the Virginia G. Piper Center for Creative Writing at ASU. Ríos is also Arizona’s inaugural poet laureate and a recent chancellor of the Academy of American Poets. He is the author of twelve collections of poetry, three short story collections, a novel, and a memoir.
