Celebrating student resilience and excellence in 2021

Kristen LaRue-Sandler

ASU English celebrated its 2020-2021 graduates and award-winners on Monday, May 3, 2021 in its second such virtual event in this pandemic era.

Grad and undergrad students completing any degree in the Department of English during spring 2021 were honored, as were those who have garnered scholarships, awards, and fellowships during the past school year. We also recognized our donors and faculty who have helped make it all happen.

Our featured speaker was Aviva Dove-Viebahn, assistant professor of film and media studies in the Department of English and a contributing editor at Ms. Magazine. Dove-Viebahn has also co-written a screenplay (with Brittany K. Fonte) in development with Women of Color Unite and has another feature screenplay in production.

After Dove-Viebahn’s remarks, the following undergraduate and graduate students were recognized for their academic and community achievements during this unique and challenging year.
