
English faculty member honored as prison volunteer of year

Cornelia “Corri” Wells, a Lecturer and Director of Prison English Programming (PEP) in the ASU Department of English, was named Education Volunteer of the Year for the Arizona State Prison Complex at Eyman. The honor was conferred during the Arizona Department of Corrections Fifth Annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner on October 29.
Caitlin Matekel, a graduate student in ASU’s School of Criminology and Criminal Justice, received the Outstanding Volunteer commendation for her work at the Arizona State Prison Complex at Florence with the Inside-Out Prison Exchange Program.
