Associate Professor of English Jessica Early is the recipient of a Dean’s Humanities Fellowship from the ASU College of Liberal Arts and Sciences for spring 2018. She is among a cohort of six scholars chosen for next semester's fellows academy.
Early, a specialist in English education, plans to convene a teacher-research group for literacy and English language arts teachers working with ethnically and linguistically diverse students as well as underserved ELL (English language learner) students in urban schools throughout the greater Phoenix area. She will design a study of a teacher-research group, who will study, plan, and implement multiliterate after-school literacy programs in their K-12 school settings. These programs will support ELL, first-generation college bound, and ethnically and linguistically diverse students and their families in strengthening their school and home-based language and literacy practices.
Early directs the English Education Program at ASU as well as the Central Arizona Writing Project, a site of the National Project.
