Biography

Jenny Irish's fiction and poetry appears widely in journals and magazines including Blackbird, Conduit, The Colorado Review, The Georgia Review, The Michigan Quarterly Review, and Ploughshares. She is a frequent collaborator on public arts projects, and teaches a free community workshop every summer. Her hybrid fiction book “Common Ancestor,” which poet Cynthia Hogue called a “scintillate debut collection” with “hurricane-force language,” was published in 2017 by Black Lawrence Press. Irish’s newest book, the short story collection, "I Am Faithful,” was released in 2020. Essayist Jenny Boully has said, "Jenny Irish writes girlhood like none other, splaying its great intensity, its lonleliness, sufferings, longings, and let-downs all."
