Laura Behr is the 23-24 communications intern for the Department of English and the Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, and TESOL (LAL) programs. Laura is an ASU senior completing a BA in English and a minor in psychology. As part of her internship, Laura leverages her communication and marketing skills by creating content for the LAL social media accounts on X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook and she helps build a greater sense of community through the English department’s undergraduate newsletter, which she helps edit.
One of Laura’s favorite parts about her internship is getting to work with a diverse network of faculty, staff, and students across the various program areas. She appreciates the value of collaboration and believes the members of the department make a strong team. Laura is looking forward to continuing her work as an intern in the spring of 2024. Besides continuing her work on the department newsletter, one of Laura’s goals is to expand LAL’s social media presence and participation. She aims to promote a more interactive platform where students and faculty can network and share their ideas with each other and with their local and global communities.
Looking ahead, Laura plans to pursue a master’s in education and realize her dream of becoming an English teacher. Her experiences as an intern will undoubtedly enhance her communication and organizational skills, giving her an added academic and career boost. If you see Laura on campus, be sure to say hello and thank her for her outstanding work!
