Marvin Fisher Scholarship
The Marvin Fisher Scholarship recognizes demonstrated and potential excellence in a graduate student’s research/creative work and their impact as a teacher in the college classroom. The recipient will receive an award of approximately $10,000 and will be known as the Department of English Marvin Fisher Scholar for that year. The following criteria will be taken into consideration:
- demonstrated and/or potential excellence as a scholar/creative writer
- demonstrated and/or potential impact as a teacher on students
- how expeditiously the student has met programmatic benchmarks
Who is eligible to apply?
Applicants must be a graduate student in the Department of English who is pursuing a terminal graduate degree (MFA or PhD) and who holds a continuing TAship through the department. Applicants must have finished at least three semesters of coursework at ASU at the time of application and typically will also have completed at least three semesters of teaching experience at ASU as well.
Application Process: Complete and submit the Marvin Fisher Scholarship Application Form. In addition, have a letter of recommendation sent to sheila.luna@asu.edu The letter should be from a faculty member and address the TA’s strengths as a teacher/scholar
