The ASU Department of English Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant Award recognizes the excellent teaching achievements of doctoral students in the Department of English. Up to two awards of $1,000 each may be granted each spring.
Eligible candidates must be doctoral students in the Department of English and in good academic standing during the academic year in which the award is made.
Application and selection process:
Eligible students should submit:
- Teaching evaluations for all courses the student has taught at Arizona State University, with a short cover letter contextualizing the evaluations.
- The student's CV, which should include teaching experience and training.
- The name and email address of their committee chair or other mentoring faculty member in the ASU Department of English. This person will be asked to write a letter describing the excellence of the applicant as a teacher based on personal observation and analysis of the materials in the application packet. Be sure to provide your recommending faculty member a copy of these materials prior to submitting your application.
Applications will be reviewed by a faculty committee. Winners will be announced in the spring and awardees will be recognized at the Department of English Graduate and Awards Ceremony.
