Interactive Plan of Study (iPOS)

The interactive plan of study (iPOS) is the official record of a graduate student’s program plans: a list of what a student has already taken, is presently taking, and will take to complete the degree requirements. Completing the iPOS in a timely manner is a requirement of the program.

Students should consult the handbook for their graduate program or certificate for information about requirements and the process for completing the iPOS.

To access your iPOS, log in to your MyASU:

  • Look for your My Programs box on the bottom right-hand side of your home page.
  • Click on your program > iPOS > Graduate Interactive Plan of Study (iPOS).
  • Follow the directions to complete each page.

For further details on how to submit your Plan of Study, see the Graduate College Your Plan of Study (iPOS) informational page. If you experience technical difficulty with submission, contact support through this page.

Foreign Language Requirement

If your program has a foreign language requirement, you must have an approved iPOS (listing a full supervisory committee) on file in order for satisfaction of the requirement to be recorded. This requirement must be manually updated by your advisor.

International Students: If your first language is not English, choose the “waived requirement” option in the drop down list on the iPOS and indicate in the notes what your first language is in the Reason box.

Making Changes to the iPOS

Once you have submitted the iPOS, you will only be able to make changes after it has been approved or rejected. At that point, you may do the following:

  • Change courses listed in your iPOS. Select the incorrect courses and replace them either with courses from your current transcript or with future courses that you now plan to take. Then submit for approval.
  • Change members on your Faculty Committee. You can add and/or remove faculty then submit for approval. Before taking any required exams, the Faculty Committee membership must accurately reflect the supervisory committee that will be evaluating the exam.
