What is a student ambassador?
The Department of English Student Ambassador program is a leadership development initiative for undergraduates who are passionate about their humanities study. Students participate in recruitment events and outreach, helping foster a welcoming academic community in the Department of English at ASU. Internship credit is available.

Elisha Clay
English (writing, rhetorics and literacies)
Hello everyone! My name is Elisha, I’m currently in my third year as an English (writing, rhetorics and literacies) major at the Tempe campus. I’ve bounced around many different disciplines during my time at ASU, but have thoroughly enjoyed exploring intersections between language, geography, and philosophy. I’m looking forward to answering all of your questions and helping you make the most of your Sun Devil experience!
Alexandria Court
English (literature)
Hi! I'm Alexandria Court — an English literature major with a minor in classic civilizations! Reading and language have always been big passions of mine since the moment I learned how to read (explains why I want to pursue a PhD degree in English literature). I have two cats, am a coffee addict (I work at Starbucks), an online gaming streamer and love to translate Old Norse stories. I can't wait to answer any questions or share my own ASU experience with you!
Honey Hutchinson

My name is Honey. I am a current English (creative writing) major here at Arizona State University. I enjoy writing stories and poems in my free time and creating story ideas. I love listening to music, watching scary movies, and attending church with my friends. I am published in five online magazines for both poetry and fiction and hope to become a bestseller one day.

Hey! My name is Amaria Majors and I’m majoring in English with a concentration in narrative studies and a minor in media content creation. I’m currently a second-year student, and I love ASU. Honestly, I chose ASU on a whim because I decided I liked having no winter since I’m from Chicago. There’s so many different kinds of people you can meet at this school and countless opportunities. English has always been my favorite subject since I first started school as a child, so I knew I had to follow that passion.
Monet Ramos

Hello! My name is Monet Ramos. I am a first-generation English literature student who is also minoring in justice studies here at ASU. As an English student, I understand how stories help us explore different perspectives and build empathy for others. My involvement helps create a welcoming space where students can practice, learn or build meaningful connections. Outside of school, you can find me at a concert, with my dog, or drinking a delicious coffee! I am more than excited to answer any questions you might have and tell you why ASU is the best!
Lindsay Votypka
English (literature)
Hi! I'm Lindsay Votypka — an English literature accelerated bachelor’s-to-master's candidate who is minoring in art history, too. Reading has been my biggest passion since early childhood, which is why I chose English lit as my major when I returned to college in my 30s; my other interests include traveling, rock climbing, art museums, video games and being perpetually curious. I'm excited to answer any questions you may have and tell you why I love being at ASU and a part of the English department!
Become a Department of English Student Ambassador
Are you passionate about your field of study? Do you enjoy meeting new people and sharing your ASU experience? Starting next spring, the Department of English will seek enthusiastic undergraduate students to serve as Student Ambassadors for the upcoming academic year. Help inspire future Sun Devils while developing valuable leadership, communication, and professional skills.
What you'll do
- Represent the Department of English at recruitment and outreach events, both in person and online.
- Assist in welcoming prospective students and families through department tours, individual meetings, phone calls, and virtual conversations.
- Share your experiences as a Department of English student and help prospective students explore academic opportunities.
- Contribute to departmental communications that highlight student experiences and the value of the humanities.
- Support department events, student engagement activities, and community outreach initiatives.

We’re looking for students who …
- Are enrolled in a Department of English undergraduate major, minor, or certificate.
- Are in good academic standing.
- Enjoy connecting with others and sharing their ASU experience.
- Demonstrate professionalism, strong communication skills, and enthusiasm for representing the Department of English.

What to expect
Student Ambassadors serve from August through May, contributing approximately three hours per week through recruitment events, outreach activities, ambassador meetings, and departmental programs.
Optional internship credit (ENG 484) is available for students who wish to earn academic credit for their participation.
